Focus on the highest honor in the world's structural engineering field!

On September 3, 2025, the project list of shortlisted entries for the Structural Awards 2025 (the World Structural Awards) was announced. The Renovation and Reconstruction Project of Beijing Workers' Stadium, with its general design contracting and full-process structural design undertaken by the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD), successfully made the shortlist.

Launched in 1968 by The Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), this award aims to recognize innovative structural designs and cutting-edge engineering achievements worldwide, and is renowned as the "Oscars" of the structural engineering industry. SafetyInside provided friction pendulum-type seismic and vibration dual-control bearing products (i.e., the 3D seismic isolation system) as well as supporting technical services for this project.

International Judges' Comments:

"A complex reconstruction that combines traditional and modern methods to create a role model for stadium design in high-intensity earthquake zones. The 205m-span canopy was engineered to resist high seismic loads using a 3D seismic isolation system and heuristic optimisation, supported by careful detailing and innovative connection design. Over 95% of demolition materials were reused, and cement–soil piles were adopted to minimise community impact, resulting in a technically rigorous redevelopment recognised across industry and academia."
