Project Features:
The North Campus Project of The Palace Museum (Section II) is located in Xi Bei Wang Town, Haidian District, Beijing City, with a total building area of approximately 60,000 square meters. It is designed by the design masters from the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design, and the China Construction Eighth Engineering Division has the honor to undertake its construction. The project inherits Chinese colors and the aesthetics of the Chinese nation, striving to create a modern historical museum that combines the past and the present, is people-oriented and future-oriented, extends the world's rich imagination of The Palace Museum, explores the full integration of tradition and modernity, showcases the Chinese civilization and looks forward to the future of the world.
Features of Seismic Isolation and Mitigation for the Project:

  • Due to the irregularity of the structural plane, liftable bearings and tensile devices are set at the positions where the tensile stress of the bearings is relatively large to solve the problem of excessive tensile stress on the bearings. The tensile devices in this project adopt a buffer structure to prevent impact loads caused by the instantaneous increase of tensile stress.
  • Due to the super-long structure, in order to avoid large deformations of the corner bearings caused by the temperature stress of the floor slab, deviation-correctable bearings are used at key positions to solve the problem of bearing strain under the structural temperature deformation.
  • The ultimate shear strain requirement for the isolation rubber bearings in this project is required to reach 450%.
  • The relevant isolation products and viscous dampers are all required to meet the 100-year service requirements.
  • The isolation bearings set in this project have the characteristics of multi-dimensional, multi-point and composite seismic isolation and mitigation. By utilizing the combined effect of isolation bearings, viscous dampers and tensile devices, the seismic isolation of the century-old building in the North Campus of The Palace Museum is achieved, ensuring its stability like Mount Tai and solidity like a rock.
