Landmark Project
Introduction to Beijing Daxing International Airport
Beijing Daxing International Airport has been honored with the title of the world's largest single seismic isolation terminal and even ranks first among the New Seven Wonders of the World.
This magnificent building, resembling a small city, is designed to handle an annual passenger throughput of over 72 million, a scale that is breathtaking. Its innovative multi-level departure and double-deck arrival and departure modes lead the way in the global aviation industry. The vast and open shared space inside the terminal is large enough to accommodate the entire Water Cube swimming center, yet it is stably supported by only eight elegantly designed C-shaped columns. The smooth and dynamic golden roof is a masterpiece crafted through the collaboration of biomimicry and cutting-edge computer algorithms. Between the terminal and the rail transit, an unprecedented giant seismic isolation slab lies, allowing subway and high-speed trains to run straight through the terminal underground at incredible speeds...
Behind these numerous breathtaking highlights, seismic safety undoubtedly serves as its most solid foundation. The SAFETYINSIDE team has meticulously crafted a comprehensive set of seismic isolation and energy disspation solutions for this project. The application of over a thousand large-diameter rubber bearings, hundreds of viscous dampers, and a series of other seismic isolation and energy disspation products ,such as elastic skate bearings has achieved remarkable results. Firstly, the seismic performance of Daxing Airport has been significantly enhanced, thereby providing more possibilities for functional expansion and aesthetic design of the building. This allows for smoother and more efficient functional operations, a more attractive appearance, broader and brighter passenger spaces, and easier achievement of ideal lighting designs. Secondly, it cleverly resolves the vibration issues caused by the complex transportation system, especially in the special scenario where high-speed trains travel at 350 km/h directly under the terminal without stopping, greatly enhancing travel safety and comfort. Thirdly, it has made outstanding contributions to cost control, with overall structural cost savings of approximately 10%, equivalent to a huge amount of RMB 500 million.
