Under the action of an earthquake, the LTZZ (Lateral-Torsional Zone Zone) between the lower end of the stair tread and the stair beam undergoes horizontal displacement, releasing the "X-brace" effect of the stair tread. The "X-brace" effect of the stair tread is the main factor adversely affecting the stiffness and regularity of the main structure of the building. During an earthquake, it can cause stress concentration in the stairway area, leading to tensile and compressive failure of the stair tread, shear-torsional failure of the stair beam, compression-bending or shear failure of the stair column, and shear failure of the frame columns of the main structure directly connected to the stair structure. Due to the relatively low stiffness of the LTZZ, it undergoes horizontal displacement during an earthquake, effectively releasing locally concentrated stress and reducing damage to the structural components of the stairs.
Under the action of a major earthquake, if the stair columns fail first, the LTZZ can serve as a second line of defense for the stair structure, preventing it from collapsing before the main structure. The stair columns in framed staircases generally have small cross-sections, and it is difficult for them and the stair beams to meet the failure mechanism of strong columns and weak beams. Therefore, it is difficult to avoid the initial failure of the ends of the stair columns during a major earthquake. After the stair columns fail, the LTZZ, through its tensile connection force with the main structure (compressive, tensile, and shear bearing capacities of the rubber layer), ensures that the stair tread does not detach from the landing beam (or floor beam) in both horizontal and vertical directions, enhancing the safety of the stair structure during a major earthquake.
This product is developed in a customized manner. Its appearance, performance and various detailed features are all determined according to the specific requirements of each individual project. In view of this, in order to fully demonstrate the cost-performance advantage in the project, it is recommended that for the specifications and parameters of products for specific projects, in-depth communication and confirmation should be carried out in a timely manner with professional engineers from Safetyinside during the initial design stage of the project, so as to accurately match the project requirements and achieve the construction and implementation of the optimal solution.
